This time, our list of upcoming films is more uncertain than ever. The pandemic is not over yet, and the future is generally very uncertain. The likelihood that the loudest premieres will again be postponed six months or a year ahead, as it was already in 2020, is very high. And half of the "new products" are actually transfers from 2020. Nevertheless, at least some guidelines can be drawn up. All premieres are sorted in order of their intended release date.
20. Cherry (February 26)
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo.
Cast: Tom Holland, Ciera Bravo, Thomas Lennon.
Crime drama based on the autobiographical novel of the army medic Nico Walker. When he returned from Iraq with post-traumatic stress disorder, doctors prescribed him an anesthetic drug, which made the man heavily addicted to drugs. For another dose, Niko contracted to rob banks. He was arrested almost ten years ago.
The film will be released on Apple's streaming service. In the main role - Tom Holland, who is trying very hard to break out of his role as Spider-Man, lately. According to the Russo brothers, directors of "Cherry", best known for "The Avengers", Tom is so good as a drug addict that he is worthy to fight for "Oscar".
19. "Tread of Chaos" (March 5)

A screen adaptation of the novel of the same name, which takes place in an alien colony. The city was founded there by refugees from the dying Earth. There are no women left in the settlement for a long time, the men are going crazy because of the virus, and the main character is the only teenager left in the city, who is not yet harassed by the thoughts of others, but is about to start doing it. And then there was an unexpected meeting with a girl who came from Earth.
Chaos Treads have a difficult fate. They wanted to release the film a few years ago, but due to constant reshoots, the release was regularly postponed. Actually, it's not a fact that the tape will be released in March 2021. The role of a teenager was played by Tom Holland, who seems to have become one of the most sought-after young actors of our time.
18. King's Man: The Beginning (March 11)
Director: Matthew Vaughn.
Cast: Rafe Fiennes, Harris Dickinson, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Tom Hollander again.
Prequel to the very first Kingsman. The action of the tape takes place during the First World War. With the exception of the surroundings, everything remained the same, including the super-espionage organization, the threat to the whole world, and the mentor-student pair.
17. "The Multiple Saints of Newark" (March 12)

Another crime drama with a serious cast. The tape is a full-length prequel to The Sopranos series. The action of the picture unfolds in the summer of 1967 during the peak of the confrontation between the Italian and African American mafia. In general, highly recommended for fans of the series.
The tape was supposed to be released in September 2020 but became one of the victims of the transfers. If nothing else happens, we will see her on HBO Max in March. The director of the project was entrusted to one of the directors of "Game of Thrones" and "Rome", and the scriptwriters of the original "Sopranos" were responsible for the nuances of the story.

15. "No Time to Die" (April 2)

Starring: Daniel Craig, Ana de Armas, Lea Seydou, Rami Malek, Christoph Waltz.
25th Bond film. According to the plot seed of the future tape, James Bond will retire from work on MI6 but will be forced to return to service at the request of his friend from the CIA. Agent 007 will have to find the kidnapped scientist and stop the next villain. This time with a partner, who also has two zeros in her callsign.
The last film in which the famous agent is played by Daniel Craig. Well, traditionally for the franchise - a lot of races, stunts, shootouts, betrayal, and various espionage and reconnaissance stuff within a gigantic budget of $ 250 million. Rumor has it that they wanted to sell the tape to streaming services for $ 600 million, but there were no daredevil buyers. Therefore, No Time to Die is one of the rare blockbusters of 2021, which will only be shown in cinemas.
14. "Mortal Kombat" (April 15)

Relaunch of the famous franchise with battles, gore, and fatality. It is to "finishing off" opponents that the authors of the tape promise to devote more time and attention. The shooting of the fighting game was entrusted to 35-year-old newcomer Simon McQuoid. But the venerable team was engaged in staging fights, of which there should be a lot. Moreover, the filmmakers tried to do without visual effects, which, probably, were reserved mainly for fatality.

It's about a solo project about Natasha Romanoff. The superheroine will have to go back in time to deal with her psychological problems. It is known that the events of the tape will take place mainly in Budapest. Here the Widow will meet with the Red Guard, the Soviet copy of Captain America, as well as with Taskmaster, who knows exactly how to repeat any, even the most superhero, movements.
We expect from "Black Widow" everything that is presented every time by films based on Marvel comics: colorful decorations, men and women with supernatural abilities, hypertrophied supervillains, and "unexpected" twists.

The guy decides to change the course of events and enters the game.
Similar to "The Truman Show", but with a much more humorous touch and special effects that climb literally in every frame. The director is the author of Living Steel and the executive producer of Stranger Things. Well, Ryan Reynolds finally went into the comedy genre.
11. "Ghostbusters: Heirs" (June 12)
Director: Jason Reitman.
Cast: Finn Wolfard, McKenna Grace, Sigourney Weaver, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd.
It is supposed to be the "real" sequel to the iconic Ghostbusters. Like, forget about the infamous 2016 movie with the hunters and wait for the warm tube hunters. In the story, a single mother with a couple of teenage children settles on an old farm that she inherited from her father. The guys try to find out more about their grandfather and find an Ecto-1 car.
In "Descendants" there are actors involved in the original 1980s dilogy. Newbies include Finn Wolfard, whom you saw in Stranger Things and It. The new "Ghostbusters" was supposed to be released in the spring of 2020, but, like many other blockbusters, fell victim to the pandemic and the ensuing massive transfers of premieres.
10. Top Gun: Maverick (July 1)
Director: Joseph Kosinski.
Cast: Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, Val Kilmer, Ed Harris.
Pete Maverick Mitchell has been one of the best pilots in the Navy for over 30 years. He is considered a fearless test pilot who pushes the boundaries of what is possible and diligently avoids promotion. As he prepares a squad of naval school graduates for a special mission like never before, Maverick meets Lieutenant Bradley Bradshaw, the son of his late friend, Lieutenant Nick Bradshaw.
One of the distinguishing features of the new film will be, apparently, the real shooting of flights on combat aircraft of the US Navy: Tom Cruise is known for his craving for a high degree of reliability in some of the stunts. Or the special effects will be at a high level.
9. "Unknown: Drake's Luck" (July 15)
Director: Ruben Fleischer.
Cast: Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg, Antonio Banderas, Sofia Taylor Ali again.
The long-suffering adaptation of the Uncharted series of games seems to finally have at least some chance of release. The film tells the story of a young Nathan Drake. It's funny that initially this role was predicted for Mark Wahlberg, but during the filming, he managed to get old, so a replacement was required, for which the ubiquitous Tom Holland came in handy. Mark was given a secondary role.
Unknown: Drake's Luck has been in production for a decade! During the filming, the film changed six directors! Many did not believe that the film adaptation of Uncharted would ever come out. And yet the production hell seems to be left behind.
8. "Suicide Squad: Mission Kick Through" (August 5)
Directed by: James Gunn.
Cast: Margot Robbie, Taika Waititi, Sylvester Stallone, Idris Elba.
Continuation of the highly controversial film "Suicide Squad". On the one hand, everyone scolded him, and on the other, he collected a huge box office, which significantly exceeded the cost of shooting. In the center of attention of "Mission Through" will once again be a team of supervillains, which was entrusted with an important, albeit dirty mission. It is not yet known exactly, but, according to rumors, this time it will be about eliminating an ambitious dictator named Luna in one of the shabby countries. All coincidences are most likely accidental.
James Gunn is in the director's chair. So the film has every chance of becoming better than its predecessor, if only thanks to humor. After all, it is he who first of all draws out the "Guardians of the Galaxy", for which Gann is also responsible. In addition, the director promises unexpected plot twists, right up to the death of the main characters. Or maybe just joking.
7. "Dune" (September 30)

Cast: Timothy Chalamet, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Zendea, Jason Momoa.
House Atreides. House Harkonnen. All of them are fighting for power and a valuable resource on the planet Arrakis. It makes no sense to describe the plot of "Dune" because it is carefully smeared by palace intrigues and secrets over hundreds of pages of Frank Herbert's works.
This film, like many others, was included in last year's rating of the expected pictures. We hope that Dune will benefit from the transfer for almost a year. After all, the task for Denis Villeneuve is extremely difficult: it is almost impossible to transfer such a large-scale and eventful work to the cinema format. The format of the series would be more suitable here, but that is what it is.
6. "The Last Duel" (October 14)
Director: Ridley Scott.
Cast: Matt Damon, Adam Driver, Ben Affleck.
The history of the last official duel, which took place in France in the XIV century. Norman knight Jean de Carouge, after returning from the war, learns that his wife was raped by a neighbor Jacques Le Gris. Jean turns to the king, and he gives the go-ahead for a fair fight. Whoever wins the duel is right. The situation is complicated by the fact that in the event of the defeat of Carrouge, death awaits his wife, who will be executed for false accusations.
It was assumed that "The Last Duel" will have time to come out before the end of 2020. In this case, the film and especially the cast could compete for several Oscars. As a result, if they succeed in applying for the Academy Awards, then no earlier than 2022.
5. "The Eternals" (November 5)

The main characters of this large-scale film comic are genetically improved superhumans who were born five million years ago. They hide from ordinary people but protect them from the vile Deviants. The actions of the terrorist Thanos forced the eternal ones to appear.
The "Eternals" have a huge budget, which, however, has not yet been disclosed. They promise a lot of the coolest special effects and dances, like in Indian films. And there will also be a gay hero, on which the filmmakers constantly focus their attention, promising to show something cooler than a kiss (namely, a happy homosexual family).
4. Godzilla vs. Kong (November 19)
Director: Adam Wingard.
Cast: Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown, Julian Dennison.
In general, the plot of the blockbuster can be described in three words that make up the title of the film. Around the clash of the two giants, of course, they wound up another story about the organization "Monarch", which tracks the life of monsters on the planet and tries to unravel the mystery of their origin on Skull Island.
For this picture, the top streaming services have made a real fight. Netflix was willing to shell out over $ 200 million for the film. But it seems that the blockbuster will still be shown on HBO Max. Godzilla v. Kong should also be delivered to the theaters.
3. "Matrix 4" (December 23)
Director: Lana Wachowski.
Cast: Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Ellen Hollman.
If the world is no longer shaken by cataclysms like a pandemic, then in a year we will be able to see the continuation of the legend. There are no details about the plot yet. It is only known for certain that Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss still play Neo and Trinity. They say young Morpheus will also appear in the film.
As is often the case with the continuation of legends, marketers are actively working on the fourth part of the "Matrix" at the level of meaningless, but healthy-sounding stuffing. So, promises are heard everywhere that Lana Wachowski is stronger than ever in the technical nuances of filming and that she will again change the film industry, as it happened with the appearance of the first "Matrix".
2. "Sherlock Holmes 3" (December 23)

About the third part of the adventures of Sherlock Holmes, performed by Robert Downey Jr., it is only known that its events will take place nine years after the story from the second part. This is exactly what separates the output of the two tapes. And also in the director's chair this time not Guy Ritchie, but the director of "Rocketman".
However, Robert Downey Jr. considers "Sherlock" his project. He also wants to make a whole detective cinematic universe out of the British detective, like Marvel and its superheroes. So after the third part, the fourth, and the fifth, and so on, as well as a bunch of offshoots, remakes, and other things, will probably follow.

Near future. After World War III and the nuclear bombing of the Japanese capital, the city-state of New Tokyo emerged in its place. It is run by pro-fascist-minded authorities, who do not even allow the thought of a regime change. At the same time, in the depths of secret military laboratories, Akira is being prepared - a superman and a savior, but for now, only a mutant child whose abilities the government is trying to control.
A large-scale full-length film adaptation of the famous manga has been preparing for a long time. Christopher Nolan was even considered as a contender for the role of director at one time. When Waititi got down to business, the approximate release date of the film appeared - spring 2021. In fact, the project is still shrouded in a fog of uncertainty. In the spring it will not be shown for sure. Most likely, it will be postponed for at least another year. Nevertheless, the authors of the tape have not officially removed the 2021 release year from the film card.
