The vast majority of the classic programs that we install in Windows all go to the same location by default, as it is known that the C partition of the hard disk is the one in which these programs are installed, and then we find the files for these programs either in Program files a or Program files x86.
Now, if we want to change a path for a program for some reason, we cannot simply cut or copy the install folder and move it to another location, as it is almost 100% certain that the program has stopped working, as the installation files and shortcuts will be corrupted.
To help us deal with this problem especially when we need to transfer a program from one computer to another, we have a free and open source tool called FreeMove. It is a very simple program that allows us to easily transfer the paths of installed programs from one disk to another without damaging the installation files.
FreeMove is especially useful in situations where our primary hard drive on which we install the operating system starts to run out of space. Whereas, the ability to move already installed applications to a secondary disk without the need to uninstall and reinstall the program is undoubtedly a very fun idea.
All you have to do is download the program and run it as an administrator (which is necessary to be able to transfer files to or from the C drive) and specify the folder for the program that you are going to move to another disk or another partition on the same or other computer. After that, you click on MOVE and you have to wait as the time it takes depends on the size and number of files.
The program's original folder will not disappear, but it will not have files in it. What FreeMove does is basically create a folder so that the operating system can access the program when it searches in the original folder. If you check the box "SET ORIGINAL FOLDER TO HIDDEN", it will remain hidden in case it bothers you to see it there on the old computer it was taken from.
