Until now, Google has relied on its mobile cars and specialized cameras installed on it or any mechanism or person to take 360-degree images of its Street View service, but now it will allow anyone to help with that only via his smartphone.
With a new feature called connected photos, Android phone users will be able to take 360-degree photos and publish them in the Street View service, and by recording several shots and move along the road or path, the same ARCore technology used by Google is adopted, and then the Street View app does the rest of the task.
Google is working on auto-recycling, optimizing photo position and creating a vivid experience from the captured series of photos. Then it is added to Google Maps at the same location from which the photos were taken, thus you have contributed to the enrichment of the service.
You will notice on the map that the Street View images captured by users appear as several blue dots representing the path in which the user walks and takes pictures.
The service was suffering from a lack of prevalence in many remote areas and countries of the world because Google relied on its own cars and devices with multiple advanced cameras. But now when you provide anyone to contribute that, that increases the support that Street View will get.
Currently, the feature is available in some countries, not including any Arab country, but more countries will be added later.
