Snapchat has launched its first program to pay creators' salaries for the most viewed daily video post, which will be featured in a new Tik Tok feed.
Snapchat is launching Snapchat Spotlight, which will show users a bunch of publicly sent posts based on custom content algorithms. App users who contribute Spotlight are eligible to receive over $ 1 million per day, broken down by popularity. It is an initiative by Snapchat to keep the best creative talent on its platform as it faces increasing competition with TikTok and Instagram.
Snapchat has funded some of the creators' projects before. But Spotlight's launch marked its first program that consistently pays for user-generated content. The company confirms that people who are eligible to earn money through the Spotlight program are 18 years of age or older.
Spotlight is available for the first time in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany and France and will be expanded to other countries soon.
