Teaching is one of the most complex tasks, especially when we have several dozen people of different abilities.
When we are "online" teachers, things can get more complicated, as we run out of body language which often provides clues about how the class is going.
To help solve this problem, a free online course was born at Stanford Online High School, a fully-online, independent high school. The course helps teachers feel comfortable teaching in this new online medium.7,000 teachers have already registered, and an updated version of this free course will be offered again this weekend.
On Saturday November 21 and Sunday November 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time, in English, the course will be taught to instructors who teach teens between 12 and 17 years old, although you can also be Useful for primary and university teachers.
Topics covered will include “challenges such as student participation and discussion (including large groups, conference rooms and mixed groups), effective communication with students and parents, assessment, curriculum adaptation for teaching methods and online strategies to support both students and yourself.”
