Sony "working hard" to restock PS5 before Christmas

Sony Interactive Entertainment boss Jim Ryan has admitted there could be issues with the availability of the PlayStation 5, but promises - the company is working on restocking.

In an interview with the BBC, the executive said:

“We have produced more PS5s under these difficult conditions than when the PS4 was launched. If people are having trouble finding the console when it premieres, we are so sorry and truely sorry. "

“But we can assure you that we are working hard to significantly replenish the stocks in the market before and after Christmas. It will be a bigger launch than the PlayStation 4. Given the circumstances, we can be proud of it. "

Ryan, naturally, was referring to the situation with the coronavirus. The person in charge of the SIE underlined that the release of a new console during a world pandemic is similar to a "roller coaster", and will never again decide on such an adventure.

It is no secret that in the first time after the release of new consoles, they are sold at a loss for the manufacturer. The games companies Sony and Microsoft make money primarily from games, not hardware. In addition, over time, the components become cheaper, and at first the cost of set-top boxes is compared with the price in the store, then it becomes lower and lower. It is only at the end of the life cycle of consoles that their sale begins to make money. The same fate awaits the PlayStation 5. China has calculated the loss that Sony will incur with each new console sold.
