6 new features coming to Windows 10 in 2021

   Microsoft is working on new functions for the Windows 10 operating system. In the next year 2021, we will see the arrival of major changes in the operating system, including modifications that will affect the system interface. Moreover, five new functions have been confirmed to the OS, two of which have been canceled in the past, and fortunately, it looks like they will return to the OS.

These new features began to appear in Microsoft's latest releases for Windows 10 as part of the Insider Program. So, we're going to see six of these novelties that we'll see next year.

Cleaning recommendations

Microsoft is currently experimenting with a feature called "User Cleaning Tips". This section will be available under Storage Settings, and it will basically allow us to delete unnecessary files that we are not using.

Besides this function, we will also have the option to archive apps. This feature began testing last year but mysteriously disappeared. Now, this function is back, and it will allow us to delete applications without losing their configuration. Thanks to this, we can, for example, delete a game and avoid losing the game and configuration. Of course, this will only work for apps that have been downloaded from the Microsoft Store.

Battery Monitor

Battery monitoring was one of Windows 10's most limited functions, as we can only know the current state by hovering the mouse over it. Now, in the battery section, we will have a new status monitor where we can find information, for example, about the battery consumption in the last 24 hours or 7 days, as well as the screen time spent on Android. Thanks to this, you will no longer have to install third-party software to optimize your Windows 10 laptop battery.

Taskbar settings

Microsoft is moving some customization options from the taskbar to the settings menu. These options will take you from the context menu (the right-click menu) to the Settings panel. This will prevent users who haven't activated Windows 10 from making adjustments they could have previously made.

Lock screen 

The default lock screen for Windows 10 receives a new function that will take advantage of the accelerometer of your tablet or laptop computer to rotate the wallpaper. If your computer does not have an accelerometer, you will not benefit from this function.

Groups

The arrival of tabs in the original Windows 10 apps was a long-awaited feature that was eventually canceled, but now references to groups have appeared again in preview releases, indicating that they could finally arrive next year. This function will allow us, for example, to group all File Explorer windows in the same place the same way we do with Chrome.

Windows said that in the future it will work to include this feature, but until now there has been no presence in the system.

Timeline

Finally, Microsoft was testing a feature called "Timeline with location," which allowed us to receive information about Cortana on mobile and PC depending on location. 

Since the Cortana app is no longer present on Android, and Timeline has been removed from the player, it is possible that this function does not include multi-platform calling.
